In line with the Force's policy of engaging the Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC), Kwun Tong District (KTDIST), being one of the pilot Districts in the Force, has taken a major initiative to link up the NEC with other stakeholders in order to handle local issues.

On October 15, Acting KTDIST Commander Alice Lee hosted the first NEC Liaison Meeting with representatives from Police Districts in Kowloon East Region and 10 stakeholders, including local NEC communities, Home Affairs Department, Social Welfare Department, Education Bureau, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, non-governmental organisations and two school principals.

Although this meeting represented KTDIST's first step forward for fostering long-term communication with NEC, it offered a platform for all stakeholders to exchange views and discuss matters of common concern.

In another event organised by KTDIST and the Kwun Tong Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Council on November 8, the Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Park was teeming with over 400 runners for the "Kwun Tong District JPC Fight Crime and Racial Harmony Fun Run 2014". Among the runners were 80 NEC students and 320 JPC members from 20 schools in Kwun Tong.

Addressing the runners, Ms Lee and Chairman of the Honorary Presidents Council, Mr Chan Kang, encouraged young people of all races to join the JPC scheme so as to explore their potential for making contributions to society.
