Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) Commandant Yiu Yeung-lung presented Long Service Medals and Clasps to 224 auxiliary officers and Commanding Officer's Commendations (COC) to another 16 officers on November 15 for their outstanding services and contributions to the Force.
Mr Yiu pointed out at the presentation ceremony that the awards and commendations are recognition of the officers' achievements and loyal services. Their outstanding performances not only brought honour and a sense of achievement to themselves, but also earned for them the appreciation of the Force senior management and the public. He thanked the officers' families and employers for their understanding and support, enabling the officers to contribute to making Hong Kong one of the safest and most stable societies in the world.
The HKAPF Long Service Medal and Clasps are awarded to officers with exemplary character and good conduct. Officers who have completed 15, 25 and 35 years of service are eligible for the Medal, 1st Clasp and 2nd Clasp respectively. The only auxiliary officer who has received the 2nd Clasp is Mr Yiu, who was earlier presented with the Clasp by Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung before the ceremony.
The 16 COC recipients have been praised for their performances in performing operational or administrative duties and in non-operational duties over an extended period of time. One of the recipients is Acting Chief Inspector (Auxiliary) Leung Yiu-kwong, who has earned the COC for his active participation in formulation of a Statutory Efficiency Training Monitoring System and arrangement for an auxiliary routine rotational transfer exercise, and for making a significant contribution to the success of these projects. Mr Leung encouraged his colleagues to make good use of the professional knowledge and experience of their principal employment to assist in the management work of the HKAPF.
Another recipient, Station Sergeant (Auxiliary) Kwan Ying-wai, is delighted with recognition of his service and is prepared to share his experience with fellow officers so as to provide more support for the regular Force.
