The HKSAR Government regularly conducts multi-departmental exercises on major incident to enhance capability to deal with emergencies. Exercise QUICKSKILL took place on Kong Sham Western Highway on December 4, simulating a mass casualty situation resulting from a serious traffic accident.

 

Officers from government departments, including Police (New Territories North Region), Fire Services Department, Government Flying Service, Civil Aid Service, Transport Department, Highways Department and Hospital Authority, as well as volunteers from Hong Kong St. John Ambulance and personnel from private companies, took part in Exercise QUICKSKILL.

 

The exercise required a large number of people with various degrees of injuries to be cared for by the responding officers, for the cause of the accident to be investigated and for the section of an affected road to be re-opened quickly for traffic to resume.
