During a recent visit to Hong Kong, ex-Commissioner of Police, Mr Raymon Anning, and his wife, Beryl, paid a courtesy call on Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung on December 4. Mr Anning served as Commissioner from 1985 to 1989 and is fondly remembered by officers who served with him during this period.
Mr Anning also attended a dinner hosted by Mr Tsang at the Commissioner's official residence and visited his old office at Hong Kong Island Regional Headquarters, where Hong Kong Island Regional Commander Li Kin-fai, who now uses the office, showed Mr Anning an old inspection book which still has his signature as Deputy Commissioner (Operations) in 1983.
Speaking shortly before returning to the United Kingdom, Mr Anning said, "You know, this was always a great Force and, from what I have seen, it is even better now. The standard of hospitality is still wonderful and Beryl and I are particularly grateful to Mr Tsang and officers of the Liaison Bureau for helping to make our visit so memorable."
