The Police Recruitment Day came to a successful conclusion at Auxiliary Police Headquarters, Kowloon Bay, on December 13, attracting more than 1 500 applications for the posts of Probationary Inspector (PI), Recruit Police Constable (RPC) and Recruit Auxiliary Police Constable. The applicants turned up almost an hour before the event commenced at eight in the morning.

Director of Personnel and Training Chau Kwok-leung and Assistant Commissioner  (Personnel) Lau Chi-wai visited and watched officers at work, including staff from Recruitment Division and Ngau Tau Kok Division, as well as volunteers from both the auxiliary and regular police forces performing marshalling duties.

The Recruitment Day provided one-stop service for the applicants. Arrangements were made for the PI applicants to take the initial screening on the spot, comprising height and weight measurements, eyesight test and academic checks, and to take a written examination on December 18 or 20. RPC applicants were arranged to take the initial screening, practical incident tests and group interviews. Arrangements were also made for the Auxiliary Police applicants to take the physical fitness test upon passing the initial screening on the spot.

The recruitment target for the financial year 2014-15 comprises over 200 PIs and 1 100 RPCs. So far, 80 percent of the targets have been achieved, with the remaining to be attained before March next year.

Recruitment Division will continue to carry out its proactive recruitment strategy and organise large-scale events. It will take part in the next lined-up event, "Education and Careers Expo", scheduled to take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai from February 5 to 8 next year.
