Two Malaysian tourists called at North Point Police Station on last Christmas Eve and expressed appreciation to officers from Patrol Sub-unit Team 3 of North Point Division for their professionalism and quality services rendered during a Third Alarm Fire in North Point in late 2013.
In the morning on December 29, 2013, a Third Alarm Fire broke out at the rear lane of a North Point building. Inside the building were many guesthouses frequented by overseas visitors and most of the visitors were in beds when the fire broke out. Firemen and police officers brought hundreds of residents and visitors out of harm's way, including the two Malaysian visitors, Ms Lee and Ms Chang. Scheduled to return home by plane in the evening of that day, they asked the police to make arrangements for them to retrieve their belongings from the guesthouse.
Police Constable Tang Wai-kuen from Patrol Sub-unit Team 3 of North Point Division and his colleagues were assigned to help many of visitors in the same predicament. Officers guided the visitors to climb the staircases of the multi-storey building in darkness and walk on waterlogged floors. On the way down, the officers also helped the visitors carry their belongings.
