New Territories North (NTN) Region held the Year-end Review 2014 at NTN Regional Headquarters on February 5 to brief local community leaders on police work and enlist their support.
Amongst the guests were District Officers from North District, Tai Po, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun, the chairmen, vice-chairmen and members of the four District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees, representatives from Rural Committees, Primary and Secondary School Heads Associations, Parent-Teacher Associations and Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Councils, South Asian Families Ambassadors and representatives from other government departments.
At the review, NTN Regional Commander Kwok Ho-fai said: "The year of 2014 was full of challenges for the police. The unity of all members of the Force, including civilians and auxiliaries, and the understanding of their families tided us over many difficult times. The law and order situation in the Region saw further improvement. Thanks to the co-operation and support of the community, the overall crime rate continued to drop." He called on community leaders and the public to continue to work with the police.
Reviewing the crime situation last year, NTN Acting Senior Superintendent (Crime) Chan Tsan-wing pointed out that cases of various crimes recorded a decrease compared with 2013.
NTN Deputy Regional Commander Rebecca Lam introduced the ten NTN Regional Operational Priorities for 2015. Apart from the seven Commissioner's Operational Priorities,
NTN had also mapped out three additional operational priorities to address the unique policing challenges in NTN Region. Apprising the guests of the upcoming directions and objectives of police work, she was confident that the partnership between the community and the police would be further strengthened.
Following the review, the guests were invited to join a display session of police equipment of Emergency Unit NTN and Traffic NTN.
Finally, the Chairman of the North District Council, Mr So Sai-chi, highly commended officers for maintaining social stability and public order. Encouraging the police to keep up their efforts, he said he was confident of NTN remaining a safe and stable community.
