At the meeting of the Kowloon West Traffic Accidents Reduction Coordination Committee (TARCC) on February 2, two District Council Traffic and Transport Committees (T&TC) praised Traffic Kowloon West (T KW) for making roads safe for both pedestrians and motorists.
Among the participants at the meeting were Chairman of the T&TC of Yau Tsim Mong District Council, Mr Ip Ngo-tung, Chairperson of the T&TC of Kowloon City District Council, Ms Li Lin, Transport Department representatives, and officers from the teams or units in KW Region.
The participants discussed road safety in KW and exchanged views and ideas to enhance road safety. Also discussed were the latest traffic situations in the districts in KW, road safety initiatives and road works, with a view to reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
At the meeting, T KW Senior Superintendent Chan Kwok-kee introduced the Commissioner's Operational Priorities for 2015 and encouraged all parties to work together to reduce fatal and serious traffic accidents. He announced that there was an overall decrease in traffic accidents involving injuries in KW in 2014, compared with 2013.
Mr Ip complimented T KW officers for their efforts and outstanding performances in 2014. At the same time, Ms Li expressed special thanks to T KW for reducing traffic congestions and preventing traffic accidents during construction of the Shatin to Central Rail Link project.
