With arrangements made by Police College, a Force delegation, led by Superintendent Tam Nga-ching and comprising one Chief Inspector, two Senior Inspectors, three Sergeants and four Police Constables, paid a study visit to the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) in Kuala Lumpur between January 5 and 9.
The study themes of the visit were Information Security, Crime-prevention Publicity Strategy and Strategies in Policing of Public Events. The delegation visited the Royal Malaysia Police College (RMPC), Police Training Centre, Command and Control Centre, Police Museum, Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) and several major police districts.
The delegation first had a guided tour of the RMPC, followed by briefings given by teaching staff on Information Security. The staff also briefed the delegation on some aspects of local policing, including the holistic use of social media, such as RMP website, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. These have been established so as to strengthen communications with the public to enhance mutual understanding and nurture trust.
The delegation also called at the FRU Training School. During the visit, the training staff introduced their standard equipment and demonstrated the tactics to be deployed. The FRU was established in 1955 as a special response team to support local police duties in any emergency or public events.
The delegation members consider the study visit very successful, enabling them to strengthen the co-operation between the RMP and the Force.
