Kowloon West (KW) Region reported improvement in law and order at its "2014 Year-end Review" on February 9 for community leaders from Yau Tsim Mong, Sham Shui Po and Kowloon City districts. Among the guests were District Officers, chairmen and vice-chairmen of District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees, and the presidents of Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee.
Senior Superintendent (SSP) (Crime) KW Man Tat-shing reviewed the overall crime situation in KW in 2014 and provided a preview of KW's Operational Priorities for 2015. He reported a drop of crime reports in 2014 compared with 2013, and the crime rate was the lowest in the past decade.
Reviewing the traffic situation in KW Region, SSP (Traffic) KW Chan Kwok-kee said there was a drop of fatal traffic accidents in 2014 compared with 2013.
Finally, Deputy Regional Commander KW Yu Tat-chung briefed the guests on the roles and responsibilities of the police in public events. KW Region would continue to engage the organisers and stakeholders of public events with a proactive approach, he stressed.
The year-end review enhanced the communication between the community and the police and apprised the guests of KW's strategic directions in the year to come, for which KW Region is looking forward to the continuous support of the different sectors of the local community.
