New Territories North (NTN) Region offered an “E-Auction Fraud Seminar 2015” on February 25 for over 150 representatives from the Money Services Operators, banks and community organisations, regional crime prevention officers and school liaison officers.
The seminar started with Senior Superintendent (Crime) NTN Chan Lok-wing welcoming the participants. After that, Chief Inspector Daisy Li and Senior Inspector Tristan Chiew, both from Regional Crime Unit 2 NTN, introduced the trends of e-auction fraud and modes of operation respectively.
Senior Inspector Bessie Fun from Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau offered prevention tips, while Regional Crime Prevention Officer NTN Louise Lam, gave a talk on tackling the scam with education and publicity.
Over 30 students from the Lingnam University studying for a Diploma in Discipline Forces Programme, who were appointed in June last year as NTN Region Fight Crime Volunteers, were invited to attend the seminar so that they would be more familiar with police work.
