Kowloon East (KE) Region held a ceremony on January 29 to celebrate the 2nd year of operation of "Project Scarf" and commend officers for contributing their time to knitting scarves for the elderly prone to going missing due to age or lapse of memory. At the ceremony, Regional Commander Richard Morgan, together with Deputy Regional Commander and Formation Commanders, presented letters of compliments to 36 award winners.
Amongst the award winners, Senior Clerical Officer of KE Region Lai Tsz-po pulled off the Best Participating Individual title for contributing 34 scarves measuring a total of over 22 meters. Deputy District Commander Railway District Sin Chi-sing won the Best Designed Scarf award and Kwun Tong District captured the Most Colourful Scarf award.
A total of 111 officers, civilian staff members and family members came up with 443 scarves. The scarves are distributed to the missing elders located by the police or during police visits to elderly homes.
