LTDIST
 
The 11th Inauguration Ceremony of the Lantau District (LTDIST) Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Council cum Presentation Ceremony was held on February 13. Officiating at the ceremony were Regional Commander New Territories South Lui Hon-kwok, Acting LTDIST Commander Ho Yun-sing, District Officer (Islands), Mr Anthony Li, and Chairman of the LTDIST JPC Honorary Presidents Council, Mr Fong Chi-kei. 
 
Also present were a large turnout of JPC members and over 370 guests, including representatives from Lantau District Council, District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC), rural committees, non-governmental organisations, business corporations, mutual aid committees, property management companies, government departments and schools.
 
Mr Ho presented certificates of appointment to 26 Honorary Presidents and four Advisors. He also thanked the Presidents, Advisors, Committee Members of the District Support Group, and community leaders for their ongoing support for LTDIST over the years. 
 
At the ceremony, 23 officers received awards as winners of an ''Outstanding Police Contest" jointly organised by Islands DFCC and LTDIST for boosting the morale of frontline officers and offering the local community a channel to pay recognition to police officers with outstanding performances. 
 
An adjudication panel comprising DFCC member picked 23 officers according to their professional knowledge, communication techniques, work attitude and performances. Mr Ho praised the winners for their devotion to duty and encouraged them to keep up their efforts.
 
TWDIST 
 
The Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) JPC Honorary President Council Inauguration Ceremony was held on March 5 before over 300 local community leaders and residents. JPC members and Non-ethnic Chinese kids pitched in by performing Hawaii ukulele and folk dance respectively.
 
Officiating at the ceremony, District Commander Kwok Ho-yee thanked all sectors of the community for their unfailing support for the police in the past year. He pointed out that the overall crime situation in TWDIST in 2014 remained stable, and attributed this to the police-community partnership in crime prevention. 
 
A total of 25 JPC Honorary Presidents were appointed – five newly appointed and 20 re-appointed. Eighty Senior Police Call members of the ''Silver Falcon" project also joined the ceremony.
 
STDIST 
 
Sha Tin JPC members visited a centre for the elderly during the Chinese New Year under ''Project Builder" scheme, cooking Chinese dumpling and playing games with the elders. The youngsters also brought along gifts to cheer up the senior citizens.
 
TPDIST
 
Tai Po District (TPDIST) JPC visited an elderly centre on February 16 and passed on crime prevention messages to elders with a drama showing the modus operandi of recent prominent deception cases, and offered tips on prevention. To cheer up the elders, the youngsters treated them to performance of oldies, distributed gifts and joined them in games.
 
WTSDIST 
 
The inauguration ceremony of the Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) JPC Honorary Presidents Council was held on March 9 before over 200 guests. Among the officiating guests were the Council Chairman, Mr Yeung Chee-tat, Vice-chairmen, Mr Chow Ching-lam and Dr Tam Ping-lap, and WTSDIST Commander Chau Cho-kei. 
 
Mr Chau pointed out that the joint efforts of the police, community leaders, other government departments and WTSDIST JPC members had contributed to making WTSDIST a harmonious community. He thanked the Honorary Presidents for their continuous support and encouragement for JPC members.
 
Following the officiating ceremony, JPC members and JPC school clubs treated the guests to Lion Dance, music, dance and Taekwondo. 
 
WTSDIST JPC has developed rapidly in recent years, with membership increasing to over 10 000 now. It has also achieved good results in various competitions.
