At Marine Region's annual dinner on February 27, Regional Commander Kwok Yam-shu presented awards to 13 officers who came up with exceptionally outstanding performances last year. About 600 officers were present to share the joy with the awardees.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Kwok pointed out that it was important not to lose sight of the many "unsung heroes", whose daily efforts contributed to the success of their Region in ways not easily quantified. Therefore, the Regional Commander Marine Award Scheme honours and recognises those "unsung heroes" whose contributions might otherwise be overlooked. Following an exhaustive selection process, 13 awardees were picked for six categories that reflected the whole spectrum of the work performed by Marine Region officers.
One of the awardees, Station Sergeant Liu Ming from Sea Standards Division, was delighted that the regional management recognised his efforts to coach younger officers as a mentor.
Another awardee, Leung Wai-sum from the General Registry of Cheung Chau Division, said it was a pleasant surprise for her when she was honoured as a civilian for providing administrative support for her Division. "This is something very meaningful, which would definitely enhance sense of belonging to the Region," she noted.
