The Sau Mau Ping (SMPDIST) Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Inauguration Ceremony cum District Spring Reception was held on March 5 before more than 300 guests from Kwun Tong and Kowloon City District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees, local groups, non-governmental organisations, and other government departments.
At the ceremony, SMPDIST Commander Andrew Lovatt presented letters of appointment to 33 Honorary Presidents. The Chairman of Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee (KT DFCC), Mr Chow Yiu-ming, was appointed Chairman of the SMPDIST JPC Honorary Presidents Council. Mr Lovatt took the opportunity to thank all Honorary Presidents for supporting SMPDIST and JPC activities over the years.

Meanwhile, the ceremony also saw 15 outstanding officers being presented with certificates of commendation under the SMPDIST Outstanding Police Award 2014. They were picked by a selection committee comprising Mr Chow, KT DFCC members, Ms Ma Ka-wai and Mr Kan Ming-tung, and SMPDIST Police Community Relations Officer Yiu Hon-sang.
With the support of Kwun Tong District Council, SMPDIST and KT DFCC jointly organised the award with a view to enhancing police-community co-operation and boosting police morale. Many nominations for the award were received, including those from the public, district councillors, and divisional commanders.
