Kowloon City District (KCDIST) is working closely with Caritas Kowloon Community Centre and Kowloon Chamber of Commerce in conducting the 5th phase of a “Star Making Project” for Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) youths by offering a total of 16 Chinese lessons between January 18 and May 24. About 20 Pakistani and Indian youths are receiving this language training. 

 

The project aims to help NEC students attain a higher level of Chinese language proficiency, encourage them to join JPC, integrate with the local community and assist with their plans to join the civil service. To these ends, police district will organise various activities for them to get a better idea of police work. A party of police officers and secondary school students have attended the Chinese lessons as tutors to help them learn Chinese more effectively, and built up friendship with them.
