The Force is the first police service in the world having gained acceptance as a Primary Member into the renowned International Association for Education Assessment (IAEA). This corporate membership granted to the Force in March this year represents another milestone of the Force's capacity building journey to enhance organisational capability through the implementation of a robust and comprehensive examination and assessment framework in Police College.
Being a member of IAEA, Force training units will have access to all the papers presented at the IAEA Annual Conferences, the Journal Assessment in Education and relevant membership data through the IAEA website, which will provide Force members with a window of professional exchange and collaboration with experts, academics and practitioners in in other parts of the world.
The Force attaches great importance to enhancing and maintaining the quality assurance of all police training programmes. To this end, the former Examinations and Assessment Division has been upgraded as Examinations and Assessment Centre since April 1. Selected officers with potential have been and will be sent to receive assessment training in Australia for acquiring certified trainer and assessor qualifications. Joining the IAEA is another initiative to ensure continuous improvement and benchmark the examinations and assessment mechanism of police training against top world training institutions.
More professional training courses are being arranged to equip officers with the latest knowledge and technology in examinations and assessment. In August this year, the first Examinations and Assessment Seminar will be held to prepare Force members for various police qualification examinations.
The IAEA, founded in the United States in 1975, is a non-governmental association of education measurement agencies around the world with the aims to assist educational agencies in the development and application of techniques to improve the quality of education and assessment.
