The Force played host on April 10 to a delegation of 16 Liaison Officers (LO) from the law enforcement agencies in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the USA, who are stationed in embassies in Beijing or consulates in Hong Kong or Guangzhou.
On the first day of their visit, the delegates visited Liaison Bureau and discussed matters of mutual interest. In particular, the LOs whose organisations have signed a Letter of Intent or a Memorandum of Understanding with the Force took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing co-operation and training opportunities.
The following day, the delegates watched a passing-out parade at Police College and met the first group of graduating probationary inspectors awarded the Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management in Policing.
The delegates also met Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung and discussed with him how the close partnerships between their organisations and the Force had resulted in successful criminal investigations and improved training opportunities and exchanges of intelligence.
Mr Tsang told the delegates that the Force would continue to attach great importance to maintaining international partnerships with overseas law enforcement agencies. He emphasised that the Force was using established INTERPOL channels and the close liaison with the LOs stationed in the Mainland and Hong Kong for combating transnational crime and terrorism and developing opportunities for training exchanges.
