The Award Presentation Ceremony 2014/15 of the Service Quality Award Scheme, Police Staff Suggestions Scheme and Police Staff Motivation Scheme was held on April 22. The ceremony also saw the staging of the final of the Service Quality Award (SQA) Scheme 2014.
Service Quality Award Scheme
A total of 35 entries were submitted for the SQA Scheme, of which four teams were selected to compete in the final at the presentation ceremony.
Officiating at the ceremony, Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung expressed his views of "Service Quality", which, he said, should be divided into three levels, i.e. individual, organisation and the public. In personal quality, officers should maintain a high standard of professional qualities, professional ethics and personal qualities. The quality of an organisation is related to its effectiveness, efficiency and economy. While delivering services to the public, officers should ensure that the services would fit purposes, provide pleasant experience and be easily accessible.
Mr Tsang suggested considering "Service" in two aspects. "First of all, we must act in accordance with the law. Secondly, as we are providing public services, we must treat every member of the public equally," he said.
