The Learning Technologies Division (LTD) of Police College has developed many high quality application systems and software to facilitate Force training in recent years. These technologies may also support the Force and the Force's government strategic partners in planning large-scale exercises, particularly public events. They are at low cost, easy-to-use and accessible for frontline operations.
On April 14, LTD held a large-scale seminar to show to an audience of over 300 frontline officers and training personnel how those technologies can help them. At the seminar, LTD speakers introduced various kinds of self-developed high quality software applications, namely "Scenario-based Interactive Multi-player Simulation", "Digital Presentation System" and "Virtual Interactive Exploration Walkway". Other systems that were co-developed with other Force formations, such as "Marine Launch Simulation" and "First-Person Role-play Simulation", were also on display.
Both Detective Training Centre and Police Driving and Traffic Training Centre also introduced the use of tablet computer in Disaster Victim Identification exercises and collaborative IT projects for driving training. A Hong Kong Police College Honorary Advisor, Dr Daniel Churchill, also introduced the latest trend of learning technologies.
Finally the audience took part in a discussion and gave very positive feedback to Police College for the development of learning technologies.
