A 33-member delegation from the local disciplined services took part in the first "Workshop on International Co-operation for Hong Kong Disciplined Services" at China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) in Beijing between May 4 and 13. The workshop was jointly held by the Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, Security Bureau and the CFAU.
Led by Senior Superintendent Chan Man-tak, the delegation comprised one Superintendent, six Chief Inspectors and seven Senior Inspectors as Force representatives, as well as representatives from Customs and Excise Department, Correctional Services Department, Fire Services Department, Government Flying Service and Immigration Department.
The workshop covered a wide range of topics, such as international protocol, negotiation technique in foreign affairs, analysis of the national defence strategies on the Mainland, social and economic developments, and relations with leading and peripheral countries.
All the guest speakers of the workshop are experts and professors from various institutions, including CFAU, Tsinghua University, and National Defence University. With their sharing of practical experiences, the delegation members came to understand the topics in a concise and interactive manner.
The delegation also got acquainted with the operations and developments of the departments at a national level via visits to the Command and Control Centre of the Public Security Bureau and the Press Conference given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The delegation members have spoken highly of the quality of the workshop for giving them a clearer picture of the foreign affairs of the Mainland and international development.
