On a beautiful clear day at the end of April, three members of the Marine Police Retirees Association made a nostalgic visit to the old Tai O Police Station, which in 2012 was renovated and became the Tai O Heritage Hotel. The three "Sui King" retirees, Henry Lok, Paul Lai and Paul Dickinson, had all served at Tai O in the late 1950s and 1960s so the visit was one that brought back many memories.
Since its opening, the Tai O Heritage Hotel has won 18 awards, including one from UNESCO and the retirees were in agreement that the awards were well deserved. The conversion to a hotel had retained the features of the old Police Station and it was still possible to recognise former barrack rooms, and Inspectors Quarters that have become luxury hotel rooms.
