Recruitment Division offered a Police Recruitment Seminar on Police College's Aberdeen campus on May 30 to over 600 young people from Junior Police Call, youth uniformed groups and Non-ethnic Chinese youth groups. Besides recruitment matters, the participants also toured training facilities on the campus and watched a demonstration of the newly revised Physical Fitness Test.

Director of Personnel and Training Au Chi-kwong and Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Lau Chi-wai were on hand to observe how the seminar proceeded.

The event started with Recruitment Division staff introducing the jobs of a police constable and selection process. Frontline police constables and Recruit Police Constables (RPCs) also shared with the participants their work experience and the life on the campus. Some participants were invited to take part in a mock group interview.

Initial screening, which comprises height and weight measurement as well as eyesight test, was conducted for participants who applied to join the Force on the spot.

The participants looked at various training facilities, including fitness training area, tactical training complex, RPC barrack, besides watching a foot drill demonstration.

During the seminar, Recruitment Division staff briefed the media and participants on the revised Physical Fitness Test, which comprised an 800-m run, 4 x 10m shuttle-run, vertical jump and handgrip strength test.  Police College Physical Training Instructors and RPCs gave a demonstration of each test item and invited the participants to try out the tests.  Starting from October 2015, the revised test will be tried out for 12 months. More information is available on the Police Public Page.

The Force will recruit 1 510 officers this financial year, comprising 190 Probationary Inspectors and 1 320 RPCs. The forthcoming major recruitment event will be the Summer Recruitment Day on July 25.
