Forty-four officers completed a Gambling Expert Training Course and joined the Gambling Expert Cadre on May 29. For the first time, the training course was open to Police Constables in order to widen the age profile of the Cadre.

It is hoped that making the training available to Junior Police Officers would ensure sufficient manpower for combating illegal soccer betting during the EUEFA Euro Cup in 2016 and the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

Also for the first time, among the participants was an overseas law enforcement officer - Inspector Tan Teng-teck from the Singapore Police Force - who attended the training course at the invitation of the Force. The attendance gave the course an international dimension and underscored the need for gambling experts to assist in combating cross-boundary syndicated and organised crimes.
