The Force procured 42 units of a Germany Large Estate Car last year as replacement for the outgoing patrol cars. In a simple handover ceremony on June 5, Force Motor Transport Officer Kevin Lau received the new batch from the motor company. The new patrol cars are being delivered to Regional Traffic Formations from May to July for Strategic Road Network patrol.
The new patrol car has a maximum output of 310 horsepower and is capable of attaining a top speed of 250 km/h. Police Constable Chan Ka-fai from Traffic Kowloon East, who went to the Germany factory to test the performances of the car last year, is satisfied with its performances and believes it will meet the required standards of the Force.
