Tai Po District (TPDIST) hosted a seminar for over 70 teachers from 53 primary and secondary schools on May 26 to introduce a new initiative to prevent triad recruitment of juveniles - Project MAPMARKER.

Tai Po District Commander Patrick Laidler, Assistant District Commander (Crime) Li Kwai-wah, Chief Inspector (Crime) Law Kwok-hoi and Police Community Relations Officer Tsang Hoi-leung conducted the seminar and gave briefings on the concept of Project MAPMARKER, latest trend of juvenile crimes and triad-related cases involving juveniles. The seminar also discussed the ways to strengthen exchange of information between schools and the police.

The audience viewed the seminar as a valuable opportunity to reinforce partnership with the police in dealing with juvenile delinquency.

On the following day, TPDIST organised another seminar at Hong Kong Institute of Education for professors, teachers and management staff when Mr Tsang introduced the trends of technology crimes and telephone scams in Hong Kong with a view to giving the audience a better picture of the modus operandi of swindlers.

Feedback from the audience was so good that the institute has planned to offer a similar seminar in early August for its students to make them more aware of prevention of Internet traps.
