Deputy Commissioner (Management) (DCP MAN) Chau Kwok-leung attended the 9th annual Pearls in Policing ("Pearls") conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, from June 14 to 17, alongside 31 law enforcement leaders, academics, and special guests from 18 countries and five international organisations.
Hosted by the National Police of Denmark, the conference, with "Shaping Innovation through Partnership" as a theme, invited the participants to engage in a discussion on the future needs of policing and how best to forge the collaboration that will allow law enforcement agencies to meet the needs.
At the conference, Mr Chau introduced the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau's initiatives in establishing partnership with relevant industry players in response to possible cyber attacks. He also talked about the experience of busting a "naked chat" syndicate through the co-operation with a social network service provider and law enforcement agencies in other jurisdictions, stimulating fruitful discussions among the participants.
"Pearls" is an international think-tank event where participants share ideas, experience and knowledge. Focusing on the present but with eyes to the future, "Pearls" has established a firm tradition as a unique forum where police leaders can discuss and debate the key challenges policing faces at all levels.
