Marine East Division (MEDIV) organised a 2015 Diving Safety Workshop on June 25 for about 40 representatives from the diving sector and invited the Chairman of the Hong Kong Underwater Association, Mr Wong Lap-kei, and the Assistant Divisional Officer of the Fire Services Department, Mr Chan Man-fai, to speak on diving safety, related accidents and rescue procedures. The objectives of event were making the diving sector more aware of diving safety and fostering the sector's co-operation with government departments in carrying out rescue operations at sea.  

 

In addition, MEDIV Inshore Patrol Sub-unit Inspector Leung Yuen-ching shared with the audience experiences of the diving-related accidents that had happened in Sai Kung areas and the rescues in the past few years.  

 

The audience complimented MEDIV for organising the workshop, which, they said, not only boosted their safety awareness, but also deepened their understanding of the rescue procedures of government departments.
