I had a passion for athletics in school days and often practised on track work after school. I was a member of my school team and won many awards and prizes. However, after leaving school, I was so busy earning a living that I quitted running. Later, I joined the Force to develop my potential. My service brought me job satisfaction and helped me rekindle my passion for athletics.
Last year, I came to know a Police Athletics Club (PAC) coach. He invited me to join the club so that I could continue pursuing my "running dream". At the outset, training was difficult for me because I had been away from training for about 10 years. When I participated in intensive training, especially under the blazing sun, it was really a big challenge for me. I always felt dizzy and vomited; so I thought of giving up. Luckily, the coach and other teammates supported and encouraged me. After a series of professional training to improve my running posture and physical fitness, and to enrich my sports knowledge, my performance improved a lot.
After a year of intensive training, I was finally able to represent the Force in track- and-field competitions. I took the title in this year's Athletics Championship. Life is like a track on which there will be different hurdles. Nonetheless, as long as you persevere in your belief, you will attain your goals. I cherish every opportunity to represent, and bring credit to, the Force.
