After signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Research and Development, Police College paid a courtesy visit to the Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) on August 7 with the senior management of Information Systems Wing, Traffic Branch, Police Public Relations Branch, Operations Wing, Support Wing and Crime Prevention Bureau in a bid to explore for more collaborative opportunities for technology applications in police projects.
Welcoming the police party, Mr Wong Ming-yam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASTRI, stressed that ASTRI hoped to assist the Public Sector, particularly government departments, in technological development by using the Innovation and Technology Commission funding in pilot projects.
During the visit, ASTRI arranged an overview presentation of its current technology developments and projects and in-depth discussion with demonstrations with the police party.
Both Director of Police College Paul Lau and Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Peter Cornthwaite considered the visit fruitful and wished to see more co-operation with ASTRI.
