Yuen Long District (YLDIST) hosted a Knowledge Cafe for officers on August 20 and invited Senior Inspector Tso Wing-in from the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit and Inspector Kwan Wang-shan from YLDIST Intelligence Section to speak on classification and handling of sexual violence cases.

Deputy District Commander Kerry Carew marked the opening of the Knowledge Cafe session with a welcoming speech. He encouraged officers to acquaint themselves with the ways to handle violence cases, as well as to ensure effective communication and co-operation with the community.

Three social workers from the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals CEASE Crisis Centre, Ms Liu Pui-shan, Ms Wong Wai-yan and Mr Fan Chor-hon, were also invited to give talks on post-referral services and their clients' views on the handling of their cases by the police.

The speakers' presentations and a question-and-answer session enriched officers' understanding of handling sexual violence cases and provoked an in-depth discussion on the matter. For both the officers and the speakers, the sharing session served a useful purpose.
