Prompted by the increase of "money laundering" cases and the complexity of investigating them, Wan Chai District (WCHDIST) earlier invited officers from Narcotics Bureau to speak in a workshop.

Senior Inspector (SIP) Kenneth Lui from the Financial Investigations Division introduced the relevant legislation, the elements required to prove "money laundering" offences and the necessary procedures of handling the offences. SIP Edmund Ma from the Joint Financial Intelligence Unit also covered the points that have to be considered before issuing a "Letter of No Consent" to banks.

The participants, who were mainly District Investigation Team officers, appreciated the information provided by the speakers.
