Commissioner Lo Wai-chung attended the "Turning Point - Youth Improvement Award 2015" ceremony of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups on August 29 and presented awards to 10 young persons who have turned a new leaf.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Lo said, "The police place emphasis on youth work and endeavour to promote inter-departmental co-operation in enhancing young persons' consciousness of civic duties and law-abiding spirit."
He added, "Besides the long-standing Junior Police Call, the police have launched in various police districts about 70 inter-departmental community and educational programmes for young persons. In the coming years, the Force will step up youth work. Apart from providing information on fighting and preventing crime, group and discipline-related activities will be offered to help young persons cultivate positive values and good conduct."
Finally, Mr Lo encouraged the awardees to inspire their peers with their success stories, and called on the volunteers and community leaders present at the ceremony to care more about the youth and support police youth work so that they would grow up in a safe and healthy environment.
