To provide the Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) students with more opportunities to chat in Cantonese, the Police Community Relations Office of Kowloon City District (KCDIST) led a party of 15 "NEC - Star Making Project" students in hiking in Tung Chung on August 26, alongside KCDIST Junior Police Call members.

KCDIST has been running the "NEC - Star Making Project" for two years in conjunction with Caritas Kowloon Community Centre and Kowloon Chamber of Commerce. So far, about 150 NEC students having improved their Chinese language proficiency after participating in the project in five phases. The sixth phase will commence next month.
