Recruitment Division (RD) organised a Selected Appointment Scheme (SAS) Sharing Session at Police Headquarters for 16 potential SAS candidates on September 22. In his opening address, Chief Superintendent (Human Resources) Siu Chak-yee said the Force planned to recruit 190 Probationary Inspectors in the current financial year, including those appointed through the SAS. He encouraged the participants to show their operational experiences and seized the opportunity to advance their career.

Afterwards, RD officers detailed the relevant schedule, selection process, written examinations and extended interview. Former Final Interview Board Chairman, Senior Superintendent Yau Kwok-yui, also offered advice on how to prepare for the final interview and reminded candidates to display determination, confidence and perseverance during the selection process.

Inspector Chow Chi-kit, a successful SAS candidate last year, shared with the audience his experience and ways to improve English proficiency. Officers from the Quartering Division also introduced the housing benefits for the Inspectorate.

The SAS aims at picking Station Sergeants (SSGTs) with potential for appointment to inspector. Since the 2014/15 financial year, the requirement of years of service for SSGTs has been reduced to three from five.

In the past year, RD received 43 recommendations from Formation Commanders, with 63 per cent of officers successfully appointed inspectors. The latest administrative instruction for the SAS was announced through the Force NoticeBoard on September 11.
