Responding to reports of an injured mongrel lying on a beach at Tai Long Sai Wan on the Sai Kung Peninsula on June 18, officers from Marine East Division (MEDIV) and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) staff found the dog in a semi-conscious state with a serious infected wound on the buttock. Following an examination by the SPCA, the dog was taken to MEDIV Base onboard a Police Launch.

After receiving medical treatment by the SPCA and staying at the "Sai Kung Stray friends" in Sai Kung for a long time, the dog is recovering gradually and fit for reunion with its owner or for adoption. On August 11, the MEDIV officers involved in the rescue went to "Sai Kung Stray friends" to see the dog and were delighted that its health condition has made a great improvement.
