At a ceremony of "Project Animate" on September 11, Kwun Tong District Commander Barry Smith presented certificates of appreciation to Tseung Kwan O Division Volunteer Group (TKOVG) and organisations.

Last year, 75 teenagers participated in the activities of the project. Twenty-seven of them, who had taken part in all project activities, were presented with letters of recognition for their outstanding performances and efforts. They were also granted learning subsidies and career opportunities by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG).

The TKOVG, in co-operation with the HKFYG - Youth Crime Prevention Centre, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal and Hong Kong Kennel Club Dog Lovers Group, rolled out "Project Animate" in February last year for promoting animal care among young people and preventing juvenile delinquency.

Under the project, many activities have been held, including introduction of Police Dog Unit, visits to veterinary clinics and animal adoption centres, publication of leaflets on animal cruelty prevention, as well as seminars on animal care.

The upcoming activities of "Project Animate" will be held in November and involve Non-ethnic Chinese teenagers.
