A delegation led by Chief Superintendent Cheung Kin-kwong from Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch, comprising Superintendent Li Kam-piu, 10 Chief Inspectors and 16 Senior Inspectors from various formations, attended a Mainland Study Programme at the People's Public Security University of China in Beijing from September 7 to 18. The programme also included a visit to Gansu.
The objective of the study programme was to provide the officers with a better picture of the policing work and crime situations as well as the historical, cultural, economic and social developments on the Mainland.
In the first week, the delegation members attended lectures on the legal system and the structure, duties and authorities of the Public Security Bureau (PSB) as well as the policing challenges to the bureau, given by professors and experts from different fields.
After the lectures, the delegation members left on a five-day visit to two major cities in Gansu, namely Lanzhou and Tianshui. They also met PSB officers at the Lanzhou Command and Control Centre and officers of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.
The classroom lectures and visits gave the delegation members a better idea of the work of the PSB and the cultures of Beijing and Gansu.
