The Liaison Bureau (LB) co-hosted the 6th INTERPOL Integrated Tools and Services Course with INTERPOL's Capacity Building and Training Directorate from September 21 to 25.

It was the first time a similar course was held in Hong Kong, attracting a total of 28 delegates from Bhutan, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Macao and the Mainland. Assistant Commissioner (Crime) John Ribeiro officiated at the opening of the course.

The course sought to provide a pool of experts for sharing advanced knowledge of INTERPOL's Secure Global Police Communication System I-24/7 tools, data recording methodologies and INTERPOL rules in data processing. I-24/7 is the INTERPOL Secure Global Police Communication System for INTERPOL member countries to share intelligence and criminal information through a variety of databases. Qualified trainers from LB will conduct Train-the-Trainer workshops to officers at different levels in the near future and further promote the use of INTERPOL tools and services.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the course, the Assistant Director of the INTERPOL Asia and South Pacific Sub-Directorate, Mr Jiang Shui, said, "We are determined to continually work towards the common vision of connecting police for a safer world."

Director of Crime and Security Lo Mung-hung also noted, "It is only with close co-operation and partnership with our law enforcement counterparts that we can combat international crimes. We need to remain vigilant to the ever-changing crime all over the world, and to assist this international police organisation in developing skills and measures to tackle the problems ahead."
