Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB), Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) and the local payment card sector joined hands in holding an "e-Business Fraud & Cyber Security Seminar" at Police Headquarters on October 13. It was the fourth seminar the Force had organised with the payment card sector on fraud prevention and data security in the cyber world.
CCB Chief Superintendent (CSP) Wong Ying-wai and Ms Caroline Ada, Country Manager of Visa Hong Kong Limited, opened the seminar and welcomed over 270 guests from e-commerce, payment card sector and banks as well as 30 Force members.
In his welcoming remarks, CSP Wong said the seminar was a forum to provide the payment card sector and other stakeholders with an update on the latest development, trend and status of e-business fraud and cyber security and to help business fight the related crimes.
Ms Ada brought the attention of the audience to the growing popularity of online transaction services and online personal data protection and pointed out that the sector needs to pay more attention to the latest data security risks.
During the seminar, four speakers from the payment card sector introduced the common techniques of cyber hacking used by fraudsters and reviewed some latest cyber security guidelines and requirements for e-payments.
Chief Inspector (CIP) Tang Wai-ying from CCB and CIP Sean Lin from CSTCB introduced the development of ATM card fraud and e-business fraud as well as the trend of cyber crime.
The seminar was concluded with a panel session with the audience, conducted by the speakers.
