The opening ceremony of a bus parade to fight drug driving and drink driving was held in Tsim Sha Tsui on October 23. A joint effort of the Road Safety Team of Traffic Kowloon West, Road Safety Council, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Kowloon West), Yau Tsim Mong Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee, Sham Shui Po Road Safety Campaign Committee and Kowloon City Road Safety Campaign Committee, the parade sought to disseminate the serious consequences of drug driving and drink driving.
An open-top double-deck bus traveled along the main roads, broadcasting songs and appeals on road safety on the way. In the areas of bars and pubs in Tsim Sha Tsui East, the guests got off the bus and distributed road safety fliers and souvenirs to the public. Bar and pub operators supported the event by promising to put up posters on their premises. The police also invited bar patrons to try out the breathing test.
