Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Man-wing presented Commanding Officer's Commendation (COC) to five long-serving members of the Force Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Cadre and appointed six new members to the Cadre on December 2.

The COC was presented to Superintendents Chui Po-chu, Chow Chun-fung, John Cameron and Neil Burnett and Chief Inspector Paul Haley to recognise their contributions to the Cadre for over 10 years, including assisting in training more than 8 000 staff members and establishing a safety management system.

The appointment of one inspector and five constables as new members by Mr Lam marks a milestone of the Force OSH Cadre as it is the first time Junior Police Officers (JPO) have joined the Cadre since it was formed in 2004. All the new members possess relevant OSH academic qualifications and were selected after going through a series of in-house OSH trainers' training. The new Cadre members will start assisting in OSH training in the coming new year.

Congratulating the COC recipients, Mr Lam said, "The contribution of the Force OSH Cadre members is remarkable and I thank everyone for their wholehearted efforts to promote safety throughout the past decade. I also welcome the new members to volunteer their services for the good work of the Cadre."

Chief Superintendent (CSP) Matthew Lindsay, Officer-in-charge of the Force OSH Cadre, thanked Mr Lam for his continuous support for the development of the Cadre. "The recruitment of JPO with professional knowledge will maximise the use of the expertise of officers at all ranks," CSP Lindsay said.
