Mong Kok District (MKDIST) has rolled out "Project ATTENTION" to help young people establish proper directions of life. It also aims at helping them improve leadership and communication skills through foot drill training and the Junior Police Call (JPC) Leader Corps.
Under the project, MKDIST and the Hong Kong and Kowloon Chiu Chow Public Association Secondary School jointly ran a programme, "Perseverance Training", for the school's new Form 1 students from September to November last year. The students, after joining the JPC, received foot drill training provided by police volunteers and attended fight crime talks organised by MKDIST Police Community Relations Office. They also pitched in for fight crime publicity activities.
The closing ceremony of the training project has taken place earlier with the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin Yeung, and Vice-chairlady of Yau Tsim Mong District Council, Ms Ko Po-ling, officiating, and MKDIST Commander Mark Foster inspecting a parade.
Meanwhile, the first JPC Leader Corps of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Chiu Chow Public Association Secondary School and MKDIST was officially established on the same day. Apart from regular foot drill training, MKDIST officers will devise a suitable training plan for JPC Leader Corps to develop their personal development and acquire more knowledge of police work and crime fighting.
Besides the Hong Kong & Kowloon Chiu Chow Public Association Secondary School, more secondary schools in Mong Kok will set up JPC Leader Corps.
