Both Traffic Kowloon West (T KW) and Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) would like to see education on road safety start early for the younger generation. That's why both have organised publicity events for children, parents and elders.
T KW staged the "Road Safety Angel Talent Show" on January 9. Officiating at the event were T KW Chief Inspector Au Yeung Hoi, Assistant District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong), Miss Ng Wai-chung, Assistant District Officer (Sham Shui Po), Mr Wai Chun-yin, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) KW Regional Commander, Mr Elkan Chan, as well as the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the three road safety campaign committees in KW.
A total of 150 kids from six kindergartens in KW participated in the show to promote road safety with various performances, including singing, dramas and foot drill. Their performance before over 400 elders and parents were rewarded with a variety of prizes.
T NTS holds competition to promote road safety
On December 13, the Road Safety Team of T NTS and the HKRSP (NTS) also jointly staged a "Road Safety Angels Got Talent" competition to disseminate road safety to large crowds.
Five teams comprising about 300 youngsters, parents and teachers took part in the final of the competition, which also attracted over 100 Senior Police Call members from four police districts. The officiating guests and adjudicators of the competition were T NTS Superintendent Chan Hoi-lun, Acting Regional Commander of HKRSP (NTS), Mr Lee Kar-ki, Principal of the TWGHs S.C. Gaw Memorial College, Ms Tang Wai-chun, and T NTS Road Safety Ambassador, Ms Tam Yuk-ying.
The young contestants came up with performances of a high standard and finally the Hong Kong Taoist Association Yuen Yuen Kindergarten won the competition with drama and singing performances. A road safety promotional film produced by T NTS Road Safety Team was also premiered at the event.
