Invited by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), Senior Inspector Lam Ho-ming from the Mainland Liaison Team of Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) offered a talk on "Investigation of Cross-boundary Commercial Crime" to members of the institute on February 2. Among the audience were over 150 professional accountants from public and private organisations, including accounting firms, banks and industrial sector.
Besides the modus operandi and trends of cross-boundary commercial crimes, the talk also covered the co-operation and liaison in the related areas, and the challenges and difficulties the Force and Mainland law enforcement agencies had come across under different legal systems, giving the HKICPA members a good grasp of the differences in the legal systems and cultures of the two places.
The talk provided a platform for the Force to introduce the latest profile and modus operandi of commercial crimes and the relevant legislation with the view to helping the accounting sector play its roles in crime prevention.
The seminar also saw discussions on matter of mutual concerns, underscoring the close relations CCB has forged with its strategic partners.
