At about 0730 on the morning of the 10th February, I arrived by taxi at the airport to catch a flight to the Philippines. At the check in desk I realised that I had left my travel documents, including my passport, in the taxi.
While my wife went back to the taxi rank to see if the taxi would come back, I went to the Police Office in the airport to report the loss. I had no taxi receipt or information to help find the taxi except that it was a green cab.
The officer on duty could not have been more helpful or courteous. He listened to me. His English was excellent because unfortunately my Chinese is not good. He made some phone calls and told me to wait till 8 o'clock. At 0830 the taxi driver came back to the Airport with all my documents and I still had time to catch my flight.
I made a note of the officer's name but have since mislaid it, but I want to commend him for his helpfulness and professionalism. I am most grateful and once again it makes me proud to be a Hongkonger.
Best Regards,
R. Sears
(Editor's note: the officer praised in this letter is PC Lai Ka-fai from PSU 4 APTDIST.)
