Western District (WDIST) hosted a "2015 Community Briefing on Western District Crime Situation" on March 2 to update local community leaders on the general crime situation and to recognise the outstanding performances of WDIST officers in crime prevention.
Among the community leaders were Chairman of Central and Western District Council (DC), Mr David Yip, Vice-chairman of Southern DC, Mr Chan Fu-ming, Chairman of Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC), Mr Thomas Cheung, Chairman of Southern DFCC, Mr Leung Ho-kwan, Vice-chairman of Western District Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary President Council, Dr Malcolm Lam, and WDIST JPC Honorary Advisor, Mr Ng Siu-keung. The ceremony also attracted many members of the DCs and DFCCs.
After WDIST Commander Chan Yee-lai had given a welcoming speech, Officer-in-Charge of the District Intelligence Section Adrian Suen and District Operation Officer Maggie Fung briefed the guests on the crime situation and traffic matters in WDIST respectively. Their briefings provided an opportunity for the community leaders not only to express their views on the crime situation, but also get a better understanding of WDIST's operational and law enforcement priorities.
The community leaders also took the opportunity to present tapestry banners and souvenirs to WDIST officers in appreciation of the professionalism and outstanding performances the officers had displayed in 12 crime cases.
