KM initiatives gather momentum

Police College took two major Knowledge Management (KM) initiatives last month: the Senior Leaders Exit Debriefing (SLED) Series No. 11 and the first KM Dialogue between Police College and the Essex Police in the UK.

On March 23, former Director of Crime and Security Lo Mung-hung attended the SLED Series at Police Headquarters as speaker, recounting the experiences of his 36 years of police work and crime investigations.

Addressing an audience of 180 officers, Mr Lo also offered valuable advice on risk management, leadership and professionalism. For their daily jobs, he called on them to remain conscientious to duties in face of challenges, show empathy in all their dealings and embrace accountability and responsibility.

KM Dialogue

Earlier on March 16, the first KM Dialogue with the Essex Police took place through a video conference. The Essex Police is one of the largest non-metropolitan police forces in the UK.

Police College Deputy Director 2, Dr Cheng Tak-ming, who is in the capacity of the Chief Knowledge Champion of the Force, Senior Superintendent (Specialised Learning), Dr Chiu Sau-mee, and other Police College officers joined the KM Dialogue. Conducting the dialogue, Dr Cheng introduced the developments of KM within the Force. The dialogue served as a platform to exchange innovative ideas and share experiences of organising KM activities and training initiatives.
