In light of the increasing number of major infrastructure projects and the need to develop the skills of traffic officers to discharge road management duties with a professional standard, Traffic Branch Headquarters (TBHQ), together with the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Hong Kong, jointly offered a 10-day "Advanced Traffic Management Course for Road Management Office 2016" to 31 officers from February 22 to March 4.
The course was designed for officers at the ranks from Police Constable to Chief Inspector, who need to perform duties or oversee the duties in road management, traffic control and major infrastructure developments.
The course covered a wide range of topics, including Traffic Engineering Concept, Integrated Traffic Management Design, Technology in Traffic Policing and Road Safety Audit. Site visits to various police regions helped the trainees understand how knowledge can be applied in their everyday work.
