The Vice-Minister of Public Security, Mr Chen Zhimin, led a Mainland delegation to meet with Commissioner Lo Wai-chung and other senior officers at Police Headquarters on April 13 at the 24th Bilateral Meeting Since Reunification Between Mainland Public Security Authorities and the Hong Kong Police Force.
The Mainland delegation comprised key officials from various bureaux of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department and Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau. The Force delegation included senior officers in charge of the Crime Wing, Operations Wing, Police College and Liaison Bureau.
At the meeting, both parties spoke about their crime situation and reviewed the achievements of co-operation in 2015 and the way forward this year. The discussion focused on matters concerning boundary control, criminal investigation, cross-boundary crimes, anti-drug strategies, anti-terrorism as well as police liaison and training. Both parties agreed to enhance co-operation and information exchange in areas of mutual concern. The Bilateral Meeting succeeded in laying a solid direction for law enforcement in the year to come.
Since 1998, MPS and the Force take turns to host the Bilateral Meeting on an annual basis for exchanging views on issues of common interest and proposing ways to strengthen co-operation.
